Test Media

This area used to provide test files for Drastic software, but the links have all been removed, since the files were ancient and hence not particularly useful.

(Legacy) Test Files

This article was designed to provide links to Drastic test media to be used for creating test media and debug files for the Drastic MediaReactor and VVW programming teams. Unfortunately the files grew ancient and not useful these days. The links have been removed. Please contact Drastic if you require any of these sequences.

(Legacy) Instructions/Usage

Generally, these files are used for two purposes:

  1. Creating a series of test files for a new format for MediaReactor
  2. Creating a test file for a decoding problem in MediaReactor

1.  To create a series of test files, please download one PAL and one NTSC sequence that you can convert to the new file format.  If 48kHz audio is not supported by your format, please also download the alternate PAL and NTSC audio files and decompress them into the same directory as the image sequences.  For both PAL and NTSC, create files for each type of supported video and audio compression.  This should include variants of bit depth as well as compression type.  Each output file should be named so that the internal audio and video types are easily identified (e.g. NewFile_PAL_YCbCr10Bit_441kHz_16Bit_.xxx).  Once the whole set has been created, either upload or send CD(s) per your Drastic contact's instructions.

2.  To create a test file for a decoding problem, download a sequence in your video standard that is compatible with the software creating the problem.  Load the sequence (and audio) into your software and generate the file with the same parameters you had the problem with.  Contact Drastic and send both the original problem file, the file generated with the sequences below and a description of the software, settings and issue in a text file.
