Sample Level accuracy with A/V Sync Precision Sync Marker (PSM)
Measure the audio video synchronization using Drastic's PSM, a far more accurate method for locating the audio tone in a signal. Read for details.
A more precise way to find sync

Drastic's A/V Sync uses a specially designed audio marker that can be identified with much greater precision than a conventional tone or beep. Rather than simply detecting when a sound becomes audible, the marker has a distinctive pattern that lets A/V Sync pinpoint its exact location in the audio signal.
This gives us a highly accurate reference point between the audio and video, allowing A/V Sync to determine sync down to the individual audio sample - even when the difference is too small to reliably identify by listening or by detecting the start of a conventional tone or beep.
Why not just use a beep?
A conventional tone can tell you roughly where an audio event occurs, but determining the exact starting point is much harder. Its waveform doesn't provide a uniquely identifiable reference point, and real-world recording and playback can make that point even less distinct.
A/V Sync's Precision Sync Marker is designed specifically to solve this problem. Its unique coded pattern gives the system a distinctive signature to find, allowing it to determine exactly where the marker occurs in the audio stream. Once that reference is located, A/V Sync can measure the audio/video offset with sample-level precision.
Test Pattern Generator provides two motion A/V Sync video patterns, both based on EBU specifications, which provide this sample level accuracy.

Details on A/V Sync setup using Test Pattern Generator and DrasticScope can be found on the AV Sync Setup page.
