Metadata, Information and Asset Management

MediaReactor and MediaReactor Workstation provide tools to read and convert XML and even re-write metadata in media files.  The metadata can be made available to asset management and other tools via an exported XML, standard sidebar files or by the program directly opening the file via MediaReactor Workstation plug ins.  Picture icon and closed caption extraction is also supported.

Omneon, Grass Valley, Harris and Pinnacle Servers

DrasticPreview, MediaReactor, MediaNXS and Drastic DDR have all been designed to integrate directly into varied workflows, including ones featuring devices that would otherwise be considered competitors.  While Drastic recommends its DDRs, if you are using an Omneon, Grass Valley, Harris, Pinnacle or other server, there are still Drastic tools that can make your work flow easier and more efficient.

Closed Captioning

Drastic's tools provide closed captioning support for 608 and 708 SD/HD captions.  Both 608 and 708 captions can be captured and played back via SDI/HD-SDI.  They can be captured as SCC, MCC or in-file captions for editing by products such as MacCaption.  They can also be played from the caption streams embedded in MPEG/h.264, MXF 436, QuickTime and others, as well as the SCC or MCC caption files.

Avid's MediaComposer, Symphony and NewsCutter software are efficient, powerful industry standard editing systems.  Drastic's MediaReactor Workstation integration allows you to extend and expand the functionality of all three of these products.  The Drastic DDR servers provide extensive content capture options with full DNxHD support and including real time editing while recording without interrupting or breaking up the record file.

VTR Replacement in Post Production Workflows

As workflows become more and more file-based, the need for traditional VTRs is waning.  Most post production equipment has a very good understanding and control of VTRs via RS-422 serial protocol.  Connecting modern file formats to traditional VTR control requires a wide support for file formats, and a mature and robust RS-422 serial device control.  Through Drastic's over 20 years of experience, we have both.

Live Multi Channel Recording and Editing

DrasticDDRs provide a number of ways to record multi-camera live events in a variety of file formats.  Files are perfectly synchronized, recorded as single or file segments and in a variety of native formats like MXF, MOV and still formats.  These records can also be edited as they are being recorded using MediaReactor Workstation and your favorite editor including Adobe Premiere, Avid MediaComposer/Symphony/Newscutter, Apple Final Cut Pro and Assimilate Scratch/Lab.

Final Cut Pro Studio
